Advantages: The development is used in the creation of rangefinder and navigation systems of increased reliability. The main advantage in comparison with analogues is the low cost, long service life of the laser emitter, preservation of operability in conditions of a sharp change in ambient temperature and exposure to mechanical loads. The development uses a fundamentally new layout scheme and materials of the active medium.
Main Features: The proposed technical solution makes it possible to provide:
- generation in the spectral region of about 1.5 microns, which is conditionally safe for the organs of vision, is located in the "window" of atmospheric transparency and coincides with the spectral range of operation of highly sensitive photodetectors due to the active element made of glass doped with trivalent erbium or ytterbium and erbium ions;
- obtaining a modulated Q-factor mode by using a passive shutter in the form of a plane-parallel plate or an electro-optical shutter installed between the active element and the output mirror of the resonator;
- reducing electromagnetic interference due to an optical pump module containing at least one laser pump diode and a Q-factor modulator made in the form of a passive shutter in the form of a plane-parallel plate;
- improvement of the spatial characteristics of the generated radiation due to the use of an optical pumping module containing a fiber light guide for pumping radiation into the lens, and (or) a passive shutter in the form of a plane-parallel plate;
- generation in the spectral region of about 1.5 microns in the passive Q-factor modulation mode by performing a passive shutter made of magnesium - aluminum spinel crystal doped with ions divalent cobalt;
- increasing the power of the generated radiation when using a Q-factor modulator made in the form of an electro-optical shutter installed between the active element and the output mirror of the resonator;
- increasing the efficiency of generation by using an optical pumping module containing a fiber light guide for pumping radiation into the lens;
- increasing reliability and durability by installing a passive shutter so that the normal to its working surfaces are formed by the Brewster angle with the resonator axis.
